UM HOW COOL IS THIS?

Snapchat has created something ridiculously cool: custom geofilters. They are letting any Snapchat user out there design and submit their own filter, for whatever reason: a birthday, an event, or just to stand out.

Until now, geofilters were set up for public places, like cities. Snapchat noted in a blog post that they have received overwhelming demand from users who have wanted a geofilter for their company or private event. From this they decided to set up an on-demand service for anyone who wants a filter of their own.

You can use their website to custom-build your filter, which includes a geographic area, a date, and a time for the filter to pop up. The image has to stick to Snapchat's guidelines, which includes no photos of people and no contact information. Snapchat then approves the filter, so the process will take about one day. The feature is currently limited to the U.S., the U.K., and Canada, but will roll out to other countries soon, hopefully NZ ASAP!

There's just one catch, you have to pay for it. Prices start at $5, and go up from there depending on how big of a "geofence" you set up, along with the time period you've set up.

Here's a video on how you can make and use the custom filter:
