Waking up to the sound of your alarm is never fun, and it's even worse when you realise you've got a whole day of serious brain work ahead of you!
Well, never fear because sleep scientists have our backs.
A new study published in Pediatrics says it’s not how long you’re sleeping but when you’re sleeping that really matters.
Our bodies are amazing things and there are certain times of the day our internal body clocks get the best sleep.
For an adult, that time is around 2am to 3am, the study says, so adults who want to stay healthy and well-rested should be fast asleep by that time.
For teenagers, the time is much later, at around 7am. To put it into perspective Dr. Judith Owens, director of sleep medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. has said “It’s like requiring an adult to get up five days a week at 3am.”
WHAT?!
Thank you science, we will take this argument to our graves if we have to.
