A tourist in Brazil found himself in the dog box after realising he had left his wife behind at a petrol station, an hour into his drive.

According to The Telegraph, by the time he realised his error, he was 96 kilometres away.

While the husband, identified as Walter, took a toilet break, his wife got out of the car to buy cookies and was left behind.

Their teenage son was also in the car and didn't notice his mother's absence either.

The abandoned woman attempted to contact Walter but failed due to poor cell phone coverage.

Two hours later, Walter showed up. His wife kicked the car and according to a traffic officer from the Brazilian municipality of Passo Fundo she was "very angry. She was moaning at him for taking so long to realise".
