These days you're really risking it if you don't carry your phone charger around with you all day. Because lets be honest we're always on our phones. So much so that we have to charge that puppy up alllll the time. And as ya know, power ain't cheap, and because our phones always on charge, it's pretty worrying to think about how much power that's sucking through.

Luckily for us, business magazine, Forbes, has figured out how much it costs to charge your phone per year. Be prepared.

Because it's REALLY CHEAP.

It costs a measly 62 CENTS a year.

Forbes worked it out and they believe a smartphone with a standard 1,440mAh battery (as found in an iPhone 5) will require 2,000 watt-hours of energy per year.

And that turns out to cost 28 of our English pence, which is 62 NZ cents.

That is actually so cheap.

iPads however are a bit more pricey to charge. 6 times the cost actually, so still pretty cheap. They require around 12kWh per year, which will cost you approx $3.72 a year. We hope you can afford that!
