McDonald's is going classy.
They are launching a ‘Create Your Taste’ learning lab this week at their Balmoral store in Auckland. It is said to be a glimpse into the future of the fast food giants many, many stores across New Zealand. At this stage they plan on rolling it out across 5 restaurants until eventually taking it nationwide.
Using a digital touch screen kiosk, customers can choose one of three suggested gourmet burgers or build their own customised burger, choosing from 20 ingredients such as jalapenos, guacamole and grilled mushrooms.
Even the more health concious are catered for, with customers having the option of going bunless if they are watching their carb intake.
‘Create Your Taste provides customers the opportunity to create their own burger to suit their taste. Using digital touch screen kiosks, customers can order one of three suggested gourmet burgers — a “Classic Cheeseburger”, “Homestyle” or “Chipotle”, or create their own burger using 20 ingredients. Customers can choose their bun (three choices – but best to veer away from the lettuce bun unless you enjoy watching half your food escape onto the table as you eat), cheese (five choices), sauces (10 choices), salad (five choices) and premium toppings such as bacon, egg, grilled pineapple, or guacamole.‘
There will also be table service with burgers fresh off the grill being served on a chopping board, with chips in a wire basket.
New Zealand is only the third country after the United States and Australia to get the customisable burgers, which are part of a wider plan to transform the fast food chain over the next five years.
The base cost of the burgers are from $10.90 but the final cost will depend on what ingredients are chosen.
