To celebrate its 12th birthday, Facebook has gone and calculated the degrees of separation between you and every other person on the site.

Even though there is a total of 1.59 billion users on the site, in far less step than six steps you'll be connected with others, even CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself.

Facebook explained the degrees of seperation in a blog post, saying that the average degrees of separation between everyone on Facebook through friend connections comes to just 3.57.

This blog post also revealed that Zuckerberg has an average 3.17 degrees of separation from all Facebook users. To find how you're connected, and the degree of separation then visit the Facebook blog post that calculates this stat for you.

“The majority of the people on Facebook have averages between 2.9 and 4.2 degrees of separation,” the blog post noted.

The company uses a statistical algorithm to estimate the number of connections separating two people.

Unfortunately Facebook is missing the vast majority of the world's population in its study, so therefore these numbers aren't representative of every human connection. It's pretty close though!
