Almost Half of Modern Day Men Do This...But Only 20% of Women Like It

Women have been doing it for decades, but now it seems we're not the only ones who are slaves to our razors.

A surprising new study has concluded that almost half of modern-day men are now shaving their legs - be it with a razor or trimmers.

Men's Health surveyed their Facebook followers after noticing that more and more male gym-goers appeared to be tackling the fuzz, prompting them to wonder if it was a growing trend.

'The results surprised us,' the magazine admitted, revealing that an unprecedented 33.1 per cent admitted to using a trimmer to 'cut it down' while a further 15.3 per cent said they shaved their legs 'frequently' and did not find it weird.

Meanwhile, just over half (51.6 per cent) insisted they would 'never' touch their leg hair. 

Curious to find out what their female counterparts thought of the trend, the publication asked its sister title, Women's Health, what their readers thought about men tackling their leg hair.

They found that 30 per cent of women were partial to 'a man who trims leg hair down' while almost a quarter (22 per cent) 'love' a man with clean-shaven legs.

The two polls suggest that men who aren't shaving or trimming their pins are only just in the majority.

While swimmers and cyclists often shave their legs to be better streamlined, it is becoming more and more common for men to do it for purely aesthetic reasons.

While this may come as a surprise to those who are unacquainted with the humble razor, the trend has been gaining pace for several years now.

Meanwhile, figures from SK:N - a nationwide chain of cosmetic clinics - also back up this trend, particularly in younger men.

In 2009 only 781 men aged 18-25 booked in for laser hair removal, but by September 2013, they had already carried out 1,376 appointments.
