A Turkish doctor suffered a heart attack in front of millions of viewers during a popular health show broadcast live on national television.

Dr Ugur Yansel, a professor of orthopaedics, was explaining flat feet in children when he had a heart attack during a live telecast of the hugely-popular Healthy Living (Saglikli Yasam) programme on the Istanbul-based 360 channel.

"Are you feeling well, professor?" asked the host of the show.

"It's something to do with my pacemaker," Yansel replied, pointing to his chest.

He then took some water and had a more severe heart attack, which made him jump up on the couch.

Yansel was moved to the backstage area where he had a third heart attack.

He was taken to a hospital by ambulance and is reported to be in a stable condition.
