Do you think you're safe from prying eyes while in Facebook Messenger or deep in the DMs?
Think again, as InternetNZ says that you may not be as secure as you think and they have released a few resources to help keep the New Zealand public's private messages, well, private.
Chief executive Jordan Carter says that communication tools often thought to be private like SMS and email are often not.
Every message you send can be accessed by your service provider, advertisers and other organisations. Ever noticed the ads on your Facebook page are related to things you might be interested in or have recently spoken about? Yeah, they're watching us guys...Â
The best method to keep your messages private is to use services like 'WhatsApp', 'Signal' and the secret conversation feature inside Facebook's messenger.
"Privacy is a basic human right and we want to see people taking control and securing their personal conversations."
