Unflattering passport photos are just the norm. Almost everyone's is hideously unflattering, and because someone else has always taken them for you, you've had no say in how they look, well until now.

An app from passport-expediting company It'sEasy is about to change the way you take the photo for your new passport. The new app has a selfie-taking component that allow you to take your passport photo at home, convenient! The feature has grid, so you can ensure your head is in the right place for cropping the photo. You can even upload a couple of different photo options and get feedback before settling on the picture that you'd like to use.

The genius app also enables users to print out all the necessary passport forms (unsure whether this includes NZ passport forms) and create a secure mailing slip so that you can do nearly every part of the passport process at home. This makes the application process safer, prevents the whole "lost in the mail" issue, and allows the process to be done much quicker.

Users can request an automatic email or push notification reminding you when it's time for your next renewal, so you'll always be prepared for any last minute travel plans.

And even though you can do nearly all of your passport paperwork through the app, at the end of the process you'll still get a small, tidy, leather-bound passport booklet.
