Whilst we love our smartphones, we don't love the lack of battery longevity. Good news about the pesky batteries though, the days of being attached to your charger could soon be over.
According to the Daily Mail, a firm which manufactures tiny hydrogen fuel cells that can power batteries for up to a week has recently signed a massive deal to put the technology in smartphones.
Intelligent Energy is the company that has confirmed the deal but they haven't disclosed who they've signed it with.Â
Julian Hughes, the acting managing director for Intelligent Energy's Consumer Electronics division, told the Daily Mail:
"We have been working with the [manufacturer] over recent weeks, demonstrating to them what our hydrogen fuel cell technology can achieve when embedded into a smartphone.
"We believe embedding fuel cell technology into portable devices provides a solution to the current dilemma of battery life and with consumers demanding more and more from their phones, battery innovation has not kept up.
"What we offer is a solution that is clean and efficient and means consumers could be truly mobile and free from the constraints of the grid."
Apparently the technology can already fit quite comfortably into iPhone 6, so it might not be too long until we see it introduced.
Can you actually imagine having a battery that actually lasts a WHOLE week. This is the dream.
