Amazon have announced their new Just Walk Out shopping experience that will make supermarket checkouts a thing of the past.
Instead of the traditional act of balancing the contents of your trolley on the conveyor belt, and having an awkward conversation with the operator between beeps, this revolutionary store will use an app to take the hassle out of grocery shopping. Â Â
All you have to do is scan the app on entry, grab the items that you're after, and simply walk out. The items will be added to your virtual shopping cart as you grab them, and then will be charged to the credit card you have linked to the app.
They have been working on this project since 2012, and have stated that the experience utilises the same technology used in self driving cars.
The store is still in its testing stage, but should be opening its doors to the Seattle public early 2017.
Hopefully we see this technology making its way over to our shores in the near future!
