Who thought this would be a good idea!?

A Japanese theme park called 'Space World' are being hugely criticised for the new attraction in their park. They froze 5,000 sea creatures into the floor of an ice skating rink.

Fish, crabs, other shellfish and even sting rays were planted in the ice as part of a their special winter attraction, called "Freezing Port."

The photos were posted on their Facebook page with captions including "I am d... d... drowning, s ... s... suffocating."

The park received so much public backlash that they were forced to close the attraction. They have also had to apologise.

'Space World' manager Toshimi Takeda told CNN that the reaction on social media had been brutal once news of the attraction was put on TV. "We were shocked to hear the reaction as the ice skate rink was very popular since it opened two weeks ago, we had an unprecedented number of visitors."

He continued, "We had endless opinions about the project, we were shocked ... We are sorry for the project and decided to close the rink on that night."

Takeda told CNN that the park staff would be unfreezing the skate rink to remove the fish. They will also be holding an "appropriate religious service" and they will then reuse them as fertilizer.

In the statement they also said that the fish were dead before they were frozen and were purchased at a local fish market.

Still. Not okay.
