There are lots of specific procedures on a aeroplane, but they're all not for no reason, and most reasons are down to safety.

A pilot has revealed the reason planes dim their cabin lights before touching down.

This is actually in order to potentially “save passengers’ lives,” as pilot Chris Cooke told the Sun.

The pilot works for a major domestic airline, and he explained it like this:

“Imagine being in an unfamiliar bright room filled with obstacles when someone turns off the lights and asks you to exit quickly.”

So essentially, by making the cabin darker before touch down, it allows for travellers’ eyes to adjust to darkness if an emergency situation was to occurr.

It helps prepare passengers, so that their eyes are adjusted to find their closest emergency exit quicker and better.

SO FASCINATING.
