The Hannah Montana Wig Is Back? Disney+ Announces Special

POV: It's 2010 and you're sitting down in your lounge on your clear inflatable couch - twirling the phone cord around your finger while talking to your friend on the landline. 

The TV is already on Disney Channel, volume up during the commercials because Hannah Montana: The Movie is about to start. You've been waiting all week for this premiere. The Disney bumper starts to play, and you both scream, "It's starting!" before your mum in the kitchen yells at you to keep it down. 

If that sounds familar then be prepared to go back in time because Disney+ just announced they're bringing us a 20th Anniversary Special, which explores never before seen content from the show and the impact it had on viewers. 

Miley in a press release about the project stated,

Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I'll always be thankful for that connection.

The fact it still means so much to people all these years later is something I'm very proud of. This 'Hannah-versary' is my way of celebrating and thanking all the fans who've stood by me for 20 years.

The special is set to premiere on Disney+ March 24, 2026, and has been described as a 'celebration' of Hannah Montana with Disney+ confirming that it will in fact be set in front of a live studio audience, much like the original show. 

As part of the special, Miley will take part in an exclusive sit-down interview with podcaster Alex Cooper. Disney reports, "the conversation will offer an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture's most iconic characters."

And while there isn't a trailer as of yet, Disney+ posted a teaser the day of the announcement. The teaser plays the iconic theme song, with a Ford Mustang pulling up to lot 9 (where the show was originally filmed) with the license plate reading "HM 20".
