Hero Cat Gets 'Hero Dog' Award!?

Tara the cat made headlines last year when she saved the day (and possibly a life) by charging a dog that was attacking her owner's 4-year-old son. And she didn't stop when the dog let go. Tara chased it all the way out of the yard.

To celebrate the four-legged act of heroism, the Los Angeles SPCA decided to bestow their highest honor on Tara, giving her their 33rd Annual Hero Dog Award.

Yes, the title does usually go to a dog but the organization made an exception in this case...

"We were so impressed by Tara's bravery and fast action that the selection committee decided that a cat this spectacular should be the National Hero Dog," SPCALA president Madeline Bernstein said.
