Here's Why Aeroplane Windows Are Round

You might have been on an aeroplane, and thought why the f*** is the window I'm sitting next to round? Generally, windows are square or rectangular, look at any houses, they don't have round windows, so why aeroplanes?

Well we have the answer. It begins right back in the 50s, when jetliners started to become popular. Unfortunately though in 1953, two planes fell apart whilst in flight. 56 people lost their lives as a result. The reason they fell apart, it was because of the windows. You may already know that when there's a corner, there is a weak spot. But, obviously, circular shapes don't have that problem. Four corners increases the chance of cracking due to air pressure, so by the windows being circular, the stress is distributed and therefore the likelihood of it cracking is reduced.

Fun, useless fact that you can pass on to the person sitting next to you next time you're thousands of feet in the sky.
