Battery University has researched the type of lithium-ion battery used in phones, and  found four important tips to keeping your battery in the best condition without having to worry about it draining.

Don’t keep it plugged in when it’s fully charged

Plugging your phone and going off to sleep isn't the greatest idea.

According to Battery University, while you're sound asleep, your smartphone hits 100% battery and can become stressed!

Once your phone reaches 100% your should take it off charge to prevent “trickle charges” which keep your battery in “high stress mode” and wears it down over time.

Try not to charge it to 100%

The type of battery inside your phone does not need to be fully charged. In fact it will last longer and be in better condition if you keep it under 100%

Plug in your phone whenever you can

Charging your phone at 10% is better than plugging it in for one long charge.

While, we must say this doesn't sound entirely practical, Battery University says you’re phone will be healthier if you plug and unplug it multiple times a day.

Keep it cool

The battery inside your phone is super sensitive to heat. Next time your charging, take the case off and let it breathe.

If you’re out in the sun make sure it's not exposed to direct sunlight.
