In an interview with Variety, David Harbour finally responded to Lily Allen's breakup album and basically said: that's her version, not mine.

The juiciest bit was him saying hearing songs inspired by their marriage ending was "weird" and that while he respects her right to make art from her experiences, "It wasn't my experience."

He also pointedly added: "Stories are complex," suggesting there's more to the breakup than what's portrayed in the album.

Meanwhile, Lily's album reportedly dives into infidelity, heartbreak and emotional turmoil, but she has already warned fans that it's a "mixture of fact and fiction" rather than a literal account.

Separately, David revealed he suffered a mental health breakdown last year and admitted stress can sometimes lead to erratic behaviour, which he described as "embarrassing" and something he's ashamed of.

So the headline takeaway: David isn't disputing Lily's right to tell her story, but he's making it clear that her album doesn't tell his side of what happened.
