Britney Spears has the internet in chaos after alleged DUI bust!

Britney Spears has sparked a wave of online chatter after being arrested for an alleged DUI.

The pop superstar was picked up by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County on Wednesday night (04.03.26) and booked in the early hours of Thursday (05.03.26).

However, records from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, which listed Britney’s occupation as a “celebrity”, show she has already been released. According to The US Sun, the singer is due to appear in court on 4 May.

The arrest has reignited memories of one of the most turbulent periods of Britney’s life.

Back in 2007, the Toxic hitmaker faced four misdemeanour charges and a possible jail sentence over an alleged hit-and-run involving a parked car in Los Angeles.

Those charges relating to the collision were eventually dropped after Britney paid damages to the vehicle’s owner, and a jury later acquitted her of a final charge of driving without a California licence.

Shortly after the incident, Britney lost custody of her sons, Preston, now 20, and Jayden, now 19, to their father, Kevin Federline. She was later placed under a controversial conservatorship, which remained in place for more than a decade before finally ending in November 2021.
