Talk about awkward… David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have wished their estranged son Brooklyn Beckham a happy 27th birthday and yes, it’s as awkward as it sounds.
As the family’s feud rages on, the doting mother and father sent well-wishes to their boy on Instagram, six weeks after Brooklyn, now living in the United States with his wife Nicola Peltz, posted a lengthy statement on the platform announcing he was cutting ties with his family.
David marked Brooklyn’s 27th birthday by sharing two childhood photographs of Brooklyn online and using the nickname he has long used for his son, the ex-footballer captioned the snaps: “27 today. Happy Birthday Bust. We love you x”.

Minutes later Victoria posted the same image as her husband had, alongside a second photograph of herself laughing with her son.
Victoria wrote: “Happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much”.
Brooklyn’s younger brother Romeo Beckham also marked the day online, sharing a childhood photograph of the pair together though he did not add a caption to the post.
In the six-page post, Brooklyn accused his parents of interfering in his marriage and prioritising public image over private relationships.
The dispute has played out largely in public view, with Brooklyn absent from several recent family events, including celebrations for David’s 50th birthday and the footballer’s investiture at Windsor Castle in November. He also did not appear in Victoria’s recent Netflix docuseries.
In his furious January statement on Instagram, Brooklyn wrote:
For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.
The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into."
Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.
David has previously made public gestures towards reconciliation.
On New Year’s Eve he posted a round-up of family photographs on Instagram that included a picture of Brooklyn as a teenager.
The caption read: “I love you all so much.”
Victoria shared the post shortly afterwards, adding a heart emoji to the image of David and Brooklyn.
The family’s most recent gathering took place two weeks ago when Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz Beckham celebrated his 21st birthday.
David organised a celebration at The MAINE restaurant in Mayfair ahead of Cruz’s birthday on 20 February, attended by Victoria, Romeo and the couple’s daughter Harper Beckham, 14.
David later posted a tribute to Cruz on Instagram, writing: “Happy 21st birthday to my little boy. Not so little anymore but the proudest thing that I am of you is the person and man that you have become, you are kind, considerate and fiercely loyal to your family, friends and everyone around you which makes you a very special person.”
David added: “You are on your own journey in life, and you are working hard and having fun which is what life is all about... We love you Cruzie and hope you have the most amazing day because you deserve to.”
Fans couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, especially since the family reportedly isn’t on speaking terms. Posting the birthday message on social media instead of reaching out privately only fuelled speculation that the gesture was more about optics than genuine connection, another example of prioritizing public image over private relationships
