Good news for every man with a beard.

You've probably been hearing a bit of slander about beards like that they are dirtier than toilet seats and such. And we're not actually saying that that isn't true, but there is new (good) news that beards aren't all bad and can be good for your health.

According to research published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, clean shaven men are more than three times as likely to harbour methicillin-resistant staph aureus (MRSA). According to NHS, MRSA is a type of bacteria that's resistant to a number of widely used antibiotics.

Researchers swabbed the faces of 408 hospital staff with and without facial hair and found evidence to suggest facial hair may either provide resistance to harmful bacteria, or actively fight infection.

The report read: "Our results suggest that male hospital workers with facial hair do not harbour more potentially concerning bacteria than clean-shaven workers, and that in some instances, clean-shaven individuals are significantly more likely to be colonized with potential [hospital acquired disease-causing] pathogens."

So there ya go!
