1/13 It started with a projection. In the man's own words "After seeing multiple pictures of people painting Calvin and Hobbes murals for their baby's room, I thought "I could do that" even though I had no artistic ability at all. But, I'm an engineer and we can solve any problem"

3/13 Starting the sketch. He worked in 1 - 1.5 hour blocks after work.

4/13 "Sketch part 'ow my wrist is cramping'"

5/13 "At this point, I decided, 'Eh, I can just paint out the rest of the picture.'"

6/13 The black outlines drawn in. "At this point, I'm quite elated with my work. 'This isn't going to turn out too badly.'"

7/13 White painting.

8/13 Orange and second layer of white.

9/13 Red, second layer of orange, and base coat. "Had to touch up the orange as I previously did with the white. Decided to try giving a base coat of white on the lighter areas so I wouldn't have to paint a second coat again."

10/13 Calvin's face, balloon, and starting the tree. "The base coat of white really helped out, got the colors I was looking for on Calvin's face. Finished off the rest of the traced area. Now I have to show off my "artistic" skills."

11/13 Leaves painted on. "Not as much details as the original image, but still gets the effect of foreground and background."

This devoted dad saw some cool wall paintings on the internet and decided to do his own for his first baby. Turned out pretty well! Now we're feeling all DIY-y and wanna go painting stuff on our walls!
