Nothing ruins ya morning muesli more than peeling over that yoghurt lid and finding a clear wee puddle on the top of your yoghurt.
What is this mysterious liquid?
Well before ya tip the whole tub down the sink, you should probably know it's not all that bad!
A representative for US yoghurt company, Chobani, has cleared up the mystery, explaining that it’s not water, but whey – the liquid remaining after milk has been strained and curdled.
"At time during transit due to handling and temperature fluctuations, some whey may separate from the yoghurt and settle on top.”
So it’s actually crucial to your yoghurt for nutritional reasons, but on the journey home to your fridge it gets separated and appears almost liquid-like.
A tip to avoid it? Just shake your yoghurt before use and it will mix the whey back in!
Better living everyone.
