Those little silica packets may be annoying little additions to literally anything you buy, but you should actually be keeping them- and here's why:
Apart from the fact you're not supposed to eat them, what are those little packets good for anyway?
Well, their main job is to remove moisture, and that's actually pretty handy! Here are 6 extra ways to use them instead of throwing them away immediately.
1. Extend the life of your razor
Excess moisture can cause razor blades to get dull quickly. So pop a few silica gel packets into a container and store your razors inside.
2. Dry out your wet mobile
This is probably the most known hack;Â Dry off the phone as much as you can with a towel, and remove the SIM card. Then put it in a ziplock bag or airtight container filled with silica gel bags.Â
3. Unfog your windscreen
To prevent your windscreen from fogging up in the morning, place some silica gel packets under the windscreen on the inside of your car. It will help stop painful mornings waiting for your car to unfog.
4. Look after your makeup
Putting a silica packet in your make up bag can help your products from splitting or sweating on hot days or during travel, helping them last longer!
5. Storage containers
We all use big plastic containers to store important documents, old school work or just simply household odds and ends so, you should pop a couple of silica gel sacks inside the box to absorb any moisture.
6. Look after your luggage
Throw a few silica packets on the bottom of your suitcase to absorb moisture and prevent your clothes from getting clammy when you travel.
Of course, if you are going to keep them, make sure you keep them away from kids and animals: because one of the only things they aren't good for is eating!
