If you've got an older sibling then you probably grew up hearing from them that the first born is the smartest, most successful and funniest, but they were just talking sh*t right?

Well now science has confirmed that they were partly right. It turns out first-born children are likely to be more intelligent than their younger siblings, a new study by the Leipzig University has found.

Sorry to the Liam Hemsworths' of the world!

The study’s data came from the IQ and personality tests of three different national studies, encompassing over 20,000 subjects.

Scientists found that there was an estimated 1.5 drop in IQ points per sibling.

For siblings in a two-child family though it found the eldest didn’t necessarily always dominate – they have a six in ten chance of a higher IQ.

In spite of these differences in intelligence, scientists weren’t able to distinguish any distinctive trends in personality.
