Tom Holland’s tattoo caused a Spider-Man continuity issue

Tom Holland just casually revealed one of the most awkward behind-the-scenes moments from the new Spider-Man movie...

While promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom shared that his real-life Spider-Man tattoo actually caused a full-blown continuity issue in the film. It had to be edited out.

Tom has a Spider-Man emblem tattooed on the bottom of his foot (which is very on-brand tbh). But things got a little complicated when filming one very intense scene.

He explained at a fan event in Amsterdam that there’s a moment where: He’s completely naked (lol) Hanging upside down off a building and the camera fully shows the bottom of his foot …which means the tattoo was right there in frame 😬

“It was very awkward to film,” Tom admitted.

Even after all the editing magic, one problem remained you could still see the tattoo. Tom said during VFX reviews, everything looked good… except that 😅 So the team literally had to go back into the “finished” film Digitally remove the tattoo frame by frame. Or rotoscoping if you want the technical term. 

“They were like, ‘No, no, no, we need to paint that out.’”

The movie also stars Zendaya (who plays MJ), and the pair’s real-life relationship actually helped make filming smoother.

Tom admitted there was a moment where he questioned a scene mid-shoot something he never would’ve done before.

“If I didn’t have the relationship with Zendaya that I have, I would never dream of saying that to an actress…”

Zendaya agreed, saying it shows how much they’ve grown since their first Spider-Man film back in 2017.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up after No Way Home, where the entire world has forgotten Peter Parker exists.

So not only is Tom dealing with emotional storylines…he’s also battling his own tattoo behind the scenes 😭
