Think the secret to good hair is just rinse, lather, repeat? Well you're wrong. There's more to the story, and it has to do with the water you're using to wash your hair.Â
Brit + Co has brought a special tradition that originated in Asia to our attention, and it involves cooking rice. Yup, that's right, if you use the water left behind from making rice on your locks, it should improve the condition of your hair.
The process is to shampoo first, then pour rice water over the hair and let it sit for two to three minutes. Rinse the rice water out, and you'll be stoked when your hair looks stronger and shinier. If you haven't cooked rice lately than no fear, as it has been reported that fermented rice water is even better than something fresh from the pot.
The hair industry has cottoned onto the advantages of rice for your hair, so you should be able to find hair products that contain the wonderous water, including L'Occitane's Rice Foaming Cleanser.Â
Better hair, everyone.Â
