The one thing you should never do when popping a pimple

We all know we're not meant to pop them, but that doesn't stop anyone. You can't just leave it there, all red and ready to go. Pimples pretty much scream to be popped.

Turns out that if you are going to pop it though, there are a few do's and don'ts when it comes to the satisfying task.

Don't push too hard. If a pimple doesn't pop easily, you shouldn't be forcing it, because according to Refinery 29, that's where all the scarring and infection comes in. You should only be targeting the pimples with a white, raised head, as these will pop most safely and easily.

To make that popping easier, you can bring the pimple to the surface using chemical peels and/or warm compresses.

It's also really, really important to ensure cleanliness. Sterilize the area with alcohol first, make sure to wash your hands, and then once the popping is done it's best to apply an antibiotic cream to the area.

But if your willpower is strong enough (ours isn't) you really should just NOT pop it.
