Former McDonald's employees are a godsend.
When they come out of the woodwork on sites such as Reddit, they give us the insider secrets about McDonald's and one former employee has now supplied us with a very handy hack.Â
Kamran Adan was a former employee at a McDonald's branch in London for over a year. He's taken to Quora to inform us mere mortals on how we can get will get the freshest meal at the food chain every single time - and it is surprisingly simple.
All you have to do is ask for the receipt for your purchase.
This is because staff give the freshest meals to those who ask for receipts, in case they're mystery shoppers.
"Basically between 12-2pm and 5-7pm workers have to be extra careful because that is when gapbusters [mystery shoppers], who are paid, visit McDonald's restaurants and rate their experience," he wrote.
"This then goes to the overall store rating and every store manager will do everything to ensure this rating is as positive as possible."
Mystery shoppers always ask for receipts so that they can get reimbursed by the company they are working for.Â
"So if you ask for a receipt in that time everyone will be immediately alert that you could be a potential gapbuster and they'll make sure to serve you the freshest burger and fries and give you priority over everyone else."
We don't know how applicable this would be to the McDonald's stores in New Zealand, but we reckon it's definitely worth a try!Â
