Okay, this is actually so cool.

Supergirl star Milly Alcock has revealed her cape in the upcoming film isn’t just any superhero fit it’s literally made from the same material as Christopher Reeve’s original Superman cape from the 1978 movie.

The 26-year-old Aussie actress, who’s making her big debut as Kara Zor-El later this month, shared the detail on the Raiders of the Lost Podcast and honestly, we’re obsessed with the full-circle moment.

“My cape in this film was remade using material from the original Superman cape,” she said.

Yep the cape.

Apparently, the costume team found about 16 metres of the original fabric and stitched it right into Milly’s version. So technically… she’s carrying a bit of superhero history around with her 🥹

In case you need a refresher, Christopher Reeve first played Superman back in 1978 and went on to star in Superman II, III and IV: The Quest for Peace. Absolute legend behaviour.

The new film is based on Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and follows Kara teaming up with a young alien girl, Knolle, on a mission for revenge after a villain named Krem of the Yellow Hill kills her father. Dark, but make it iconic.

And just like her cousin Clark Kent, Supergirl has an alter ego too Kara Zor-El living her “normal” life.

Also on the cast is Hayley's hall pass, Jason Momoa 👀

Yes, the Aquaman star is stepping into the DC universe again but this time as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo, and it sounds like he’s fully leaning into the madness of the character.

Hayley caught up with him for an exclusive interview which you can catch below by pressing play!

Their chemistry is undeniable...

They need to appear in a TV show together or something...

Milly also admitted she was low-key terrified before going for the role, but gave herself a pep talk we ALL need to hear:

“I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, ‘Who am I to turn down this opportunity?’”

She added that the fear was actually what pushed her to go for it, saying you only get “one big, bad, beautiful life” so you might as well send it.

Honestly… fair.

Supergirl hits cinemas June 26 and we’ll be watching closely for that cape (and Lobo tbh) 💫
