Ryan Seacrest had to pull out of attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding - despite originally offering to officiate the ceremony.
The superstar pair ended up enlisting the help of Adam Sandler to helm their nuptials at Madison Square Garden on Saturday (03 Jul 26), Ryan revealed he’d RSVP’d before having to pull out of attending the wedding altogether
He said: “I RSVP'd to go and then Disney hired me to do the 4th of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, and so I had to cancel.
“I had no choice. It's part of my job at Disney to do these things. It was work.”
Ryan ended up being in Nashville instead of New York, to host the Let Freedom Sing! Music City special to mark the Independence Day holiday in America, so couldn’t have made the ceremony as well.
His co-hosts then lambasted Ryan for “wasting” his invite to what’s been dubbed the celebrity wedding of the century.
With Ryan hitting back: “It wasn't a waste! I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn.”
He also let slip a detail about the wedding as he revealed Taylor and Travis had said “I do” in the afternoon.
Ryan continued: “I couldn't have done both. The actual wedding was in the afternoon. I went through the minutes!”
“But I was so honoured and thrilled to be invited.”

To add to the “irony”, after saying he would be attending the nuptials, he ran into Taylor and Travis at a restaurant, with the soon-to-be newlyweds calling their wedding “the event” in conversation.
Ryan added: “[Taylor] was like, ‘It's going to be so much fun. We're going to have the best time. It's going to go late!’
In an attempt to make up for missing the wedding, Ryan “gave them a shoutout on the show”, he said.
Ryan’s admission came after he offered to officiate the wedding in an interview with Taylor, as he told the singer he had just taken on the role for his co-host Tanya Reid’s nuptials.
He said: “I took an online course and I'm allowed to do other weddings. So, I'm just throwing my name out there as officiant.”
Saying that she was “honoured”, Taylor replied at the time: “That is fantastic, you guys are amazing.”
