People are shocked by these sexist Wonder Woman goody bags

Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot is kicking the box office's a** right now, but that definitely doesn't mean that women are being respected as serious filmmakers by the majority. Now, we're not naive, we know there's still a long way to go before equality in the film industry can be achieved, and Michelle Wolfe from The Daily Show summed it up beautifully with this statement surrounding the film's success.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the multiple "women only" screenings received serious backlash for "excluding male fans." Oh dear.

Men, Chill. You can still see Wonder Woman, the female only screenings are for those of us women who feel more comfortable around our own gender. There is no shortage of all inclusive screenings.

The misogyny only continued when the items included in a goody bag for a women only screening, mimicked those oh so funny "get back in the kitchen" jokes. The bag labelled "Cool things inside" neglected to highlight the fact that "cool things" apparently now mean "stereotypical women's items."

These "cool" items included a cleaning sponge, a dish scrubber and one of those rubber scraper things you use on a steamed mirror. The items also re-enforced expectations of women though diet pill pamphlets. Needless to say, cinema goers were understandably offended.

The cinema in Belgium responsible for these "goody bags" have since apologised, but insist the items were just products from the theater's sponsors. Wow, what a coincidence at a women only screening. Whether this statement is true, surely someone could foresee the reaction from a women only audience.
