Oscar Pistorius sent to jail for five years
Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to five years in prison for the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
He shot her through the bathroom door in his home on Valentines Day in 2013, claiming he thought she was an intruder.
On the second charge of violating the firearms act Judge Masipa sentenced him to three years, wholly suspended.
The sentences would run concurrently.
There was absolute silence in court as Pistorius received his sentence.
