Kiwi GTA fans are the world's most anticipated game first ‼️

Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will unlock in New Zealand at midnight on November 19, giving Kiwi players access up to 20 hours before gamers in parts of North and Central America.

Naturally, anyone not in Aotearoa is trying to find loopholes.

According to gaming outlet GameSpot, Xbox Series X|S, users can simply change their console region settings to New Zealand. PlayStation players, however, have a much trickier route involving creating a New Zealand PlayStation account and purchasing NZD gift cards online.

The workaround has sparked plenty of debate online, with some gamers calling it desperate and others wondering why New Zealand gets the VIP treatment in the first place. Rats.

The franchise is famous for its huge open worlds, wild missions and unforgettable storylines, but it's also no stranger to controversy thanks to its violent content, drug use and adult themes. Here in New Zealand, the game has been given an R18 rating.

After multiple delays and years of rumours, leaks and speculation, gamers are finally getting their hands on what could be the biggest video game release of the decade.

RIP to our boyfriends and friends we won't be seeing because of this game.
