We need to talk about Justin Timberlake’s beatboxing era.

If you were around for the peak JT years, you’ll remember there was a time when the pop star simply could not resist dropping a little beatbox into a song.

And now, even Justin Timberlake has questions about it.

The singer has hilariously responded after Instagram creator Hannah Young posted a Reel looking back at the era and questioning why everyone collectively accepted that JT could suddenly start making drum noises with his mouth in the middle of a song.

Young joked that actual drums and instruments were readily available to him, but perhaps the funniest part was that we all absolutely loved it at the time.

And it turns out JT saw the video.

Jumping into the comments, Justin Timberlake admitted he looks back on that period too and still hasn’t found an explanation for his beatboxing ambitions.

“I don’t know how to apologize enough for whatever those ambitions were,” he joked, adding:“Too many boots. Too many cats. I hope you can forgive me.”

💀💀💀

But before you mourn the loss of Beatboxing Justin forever, apparently he’s not completely ready to put that chapter behind him.

He finished his comment with a warning that he“can’t promise” he won’t do it again, followed by: “God help us all.”

Honestly? Bring it back.

The interaction happened after Young shared her Reel on Monday, 5 October, with the story quickly being picked up by entertainment outlets this week.

And if anything deserves a comeback in 2026, surely it’s celebrities randomly beatboxing in the middle of songs.
