J. K. Rowling may have just explained something incredibly sad about good old hapless Hagrid.
She's well known for chatting to fans on Twitter and her website and responding to questions. Occasionally she even reveals something that leaves us in a bit of shock.
Like when she recently seemed to agree with a fan theory that Dumbledore was Death.
Dumbledore as death. It's a beautiful theory and it fits. https://t.co/QqTQm2QnI0

This time a fan asked her what Hagrid's Patronus would be and she gave a sad answer.Â
Hagrid couldn't produce a Patronus. It's a very difficult spell. https://t.co/TRDVNvSEdR

Movie Pilot has pointed out what this really means – a Petronus is ‘a projection of all your most positive feelings’, so Hagrid could have been entirely too sad to create his own Patronus.
Hopefully this is NOT the case - the charm is particularly tricky and even Harry himself had to have lessons to learn how to use it against his Dementors.
So perhaps this is what the author meant – that it was simply a bit too difficult for the loveable grounds-keeper.
Or maybe she meant he was just too unhappy after everything he’s been through, having been abandoned by his mother, framed by Tom Riddle for opening the Chamber Of Secrets, and rejected my Madame Maxime to conjure his own magical guardian.
Regardless, ALL of the hugs for Hagrid!
