If you already thought that we rely on technology far too much, then be prepared for it to get worse. One company has raised the stakes with a Fridge Cam.
Yes, that is right, this device lets you check on the food in your fridge when you're not at home.
Created by UK-based Smarter, the device mounts to the inside of your fridge using a suction cup. Using the Smarter app, you can take a snapshot of what's inside your fridge and see what you might need to stock up on. Or see what sneaky flatmate is making grabs at your leftover Chinese takeaway.Â
While the convenience of the device is appealing to some people, it quickly became the target of abuse, with other people claiming it's the latest proof that technology is slowly turning us even more overly tech-dependent. First selfie sticks, now this?
The company has also created Smarter Mats, these are tiny platforms that sit underneath your beverages in the fridge and notify you via an app if a particular beverage container is empty or full.

The company haven't yet revealed prices for the Fridge Cam or the Smarter Mats, but both devices will be available this summer and will be supported by Android and iOS apps.
