Instagram’s last major update has some people absolutely freaking out!
On Friday, this photo started circulating the internet, stirring the web into a giant freak-out frenzy.
Instagram came out saying:
“Today we’re announcing two updates: live video on Instagram Stories and disappearing photos and videos for groups and friends in Instagram Direct.”
Naturally, people assumed that ANY screenshot taken would notify the user, including newsfeed pics, however that's not quite true (thank f*ck!)
Unlike Snapchat, Instagram won’t notify people if you’ve screenshotted their regular photos or their regular Direct Messages.
They’ll get a notification only if you replay or screenshot disappearing photos and videos.
As Instagram says: “Unlike other messages in Direct, these photos and videos disappear from your friends’ inboxes after they have seen them. And you’ll see if they replayed it or took a screenshot.”
So how do we send a disappearing pic?
Swipe right into camera. Click on the arrow to send a private message. Pick an already existing group or create a new one. Unlike other types of messages you send, these will disappear after the recipient has seen it.
Whether your account is set to public or private, you can only send disappearing photos and videos to people who follow you.
You're welcome.
