“Harry Potter” Fan Points Out Something AWFUL About Snape We Didn't Notice

Snape is definitely a hot point of discussion for all Harry Potter fans ever since Deathly Hallows first hit shelves in 2007. Everyone’s got an opinion: hero or villain?Â
Nothing will end this argument, probably but this argument could be giving ammunition to Team Anti-Snape.
Reddit user always934 pointed out something that we never noticed about Snape. According to the Redditor, Snape seems to give particularly grisly detentions to his Gryffindor students…and in some instances, he makes little Gryffindors cut up the same kinds of animals that they keep as pets.
OK BUT SORRY HOW SCREWED UP IS THAT!?Â
For example, little Neville Longbottom (pre-puberty-longbottom aka before he got hot AF) owned a toad (Trevor!) and during one of his many detentions (this one earned by melting a cauldron in Potions class)…
...Snape makes him disembowel a whole barrel of toads.
And what about Ron, who for the first 2.75 books has a pet rat named Scabbers? (Yes, this one is a bit complicated 'cause Ron didn't really like Scabbers and then Scabbers turned out to be a Death Eater in disguise anyway). BUT STILL. During one of Ron’s frequent detentions with Harry, he’s forced to spend two hours pickling rat brains in the dungeon.
As the Reddit post says, it "Kinda adds an extra level of malice to their detention."
Thank goodness Hermione never got a Snape detention, is all we can say.
Well, this is definitely something we missed when we read it like 10000000000 times.Â
