Scientists say that one simple way to boost your metabolism, meaning you burn off calories faster, is to have a cold show at the beginning of your day.
Doing so is said to jump start your metabolism for the rest of the day as the cold water forces the body's cardiovascular system to go into full force.
Also, the body attempts to fight off the cold and generate more heat to help your body function, which increase your metabolic rate.
Alongside this, when your body temperature drops you go into non-shivering thermogenesis which is a calorie burning increase.
Cold water also triggers a hormonal change that produces brown fat, which burns calories to produce heat. Alternatively white fat stores calories.
So we reckon it'd be worth a try, that's if you can handle a cold shower in the current low temperatures!
