Sometimes you just have to step away...

On an episode of iHeartRadio and P&G's Elton John Impact Awards podcast released Monday (June 1), the "Subway" singer, 28, got real about she navigates her social media presence, per People. After explaining that it can be "disheartening sometimes to really go into the comment section" and that it can be hard to separate "social media and your job and being a good person," Roan revealed that she has deleted social media from her phone at this time.

"I just delete it when it becomes too much and keep it moving," she said. "Because at the end of the day, no matter what anyone says about me or online or in person, it's not gonna stop people like Elton [John] and I from donating money, donating time, writing about things that matter to us."

Chappell also understands that while she has that opportunity, not all artists have the privilege of taking a step away without it severely impacting their career.

"It's such a difficult world to navigate that personally, if I just delete it and keep it moving, I kind of make it out of that hurricane," she said. "But that's hard for a lot of artists because if you really rely on social media to fuel your momentum, that can be really disheartening and it can feel very hopeless."

She added, "I'm in a very privileged position where I can be like, 'I'm not gonna be on this and I'll be fine.' But not everyone is like that."

In a June 2025 conversation with SZA for Interview magazine, Roan admitted that harsh critiques of her as a person rather than on the art she creates "makes me cry."

Good luck, babe! Social media can be cruel.
