Just in time for those rowdy work Christmas parties has come a Hangover Clinic, in Sydney and it's the first for Australia. So our neighbours across the ditch who wake up with last night’s kebab threatening to make an untimely exit can head over to the Sydney clinic and get cured within half an hour.
But if the booze doesn’t make you want to throw up, the prices sure will. An IV drip and vitamin cocktail comes to $150. A one-hour treatment involving a hydration drip, oxygen therapy and more vitamins totals $214. If you're not regretting drinking that much you surely should at least regret paying that much.Â
Critics say that a bad hangover is a reminder not to drink so much, and the clinic could therefore encourage binge drinking.
‘We don’t sell any alcohol,’ Mr Petro, the clinic owner has said. ‘There’s no one binge drinking in our clinic. We’re just there to make sure people can get on with their day.’
Whilst this sounds like a foreign concept for us Kiwi's, it turns out we are waaaaay behind on the trend as the concept is now common across parts of Europe and America. In New York, a "hangover bus" patrols the city's neighbourhoods while in Vegas you can order IV recovery drips to your hotel room.Â
So if someone could just open up a clinic (without the hefty prices) in NZ that would be great thanks!
