She teased us with 30 seconds and now May 29 feels like it's a million years away

Ariana Grande is giving fans a first listen ahead of her upcoming single. The pop star posted a teaser for "Hate That I Made You Love Me", pairing it with a black-and-white visual that pieces together words from the song's title alongside photographs of Grande. The ethereal clip sounds almost like falling drops of water, pitched and processed to feel both musical and unsettling (though it contains no audible vocals or lyrics.)

The snippet arrives ahead of the song's full release on May 29, and the track will appear as one of 12 songs on Petal, Grande's eighth studio album, due July 31.

Grande co-produced the track alongside hitmakers Ilya Salmanzadeh and Max Martin, the same dream team behind her previous album Eternal Sunshine. When she first announced the single earlier this month, she described it on Instagram as "one of my favourite songs I'll ever write" and said she "simply cannot wait for it to be yours."

Physical editions of the single will be available in two 7-inch vinyl variants, along with CD and cassette editions. Fans can pre-save and pre-order now ahead of the May 29 drop.

Fourteen days. We can do this. Probably.
