Kate Ritchie has revealed a sneaky Home and Away set secret

She was a fan favourite playing Sally Fletcher for 20 years, but former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie had to employ some sneaky acting hacks during her time on the show.

The actress, who briefly reprised her role in 2013, has revealed she struggled to learn her lines and as a fix would hide scripts around the Home And Away set.

"I would have my scripts in the sink in the kitchen," Kate told her Nova co-hosts.

"There were a few times when, perhaps, I had 12 scenes in the Fletcher house and I couldn't remember all the dialogue, or it was a bit tricky, and I would have my scripts in the sink in the kitchen. I'm not reading it, I'm being prompted, but it's still all my own performance."

Kate recently ruled out a return to the Aussie soap – saying she isn't convinced it would work anymore.

"It's fast approaching 10 years since I left the shores of Summer Bay," she told the The Daily Telegraph.

"Home and Away will always have a very large, special place in my heart, but I'm not convinced we fit together anymore, or at least that's what I have to keep telling myself."
