Beer Pong is awesome but it's not so awesome when the ball rolls on the floor and your drink gets all sorts of gross things in it. Now a group of mostly twentysomething brothers from Connecticut are hoping to revolutionize the drinking game to make it more sanitary and less gross with their new invention: Slip Cup.

Slip cup consists of a set of small cuts that fit into drinking cups and catch the ball before it hits your delicious liquid in the cup. The guys cite a 2013 study by a group of Clemson University students who tested Ping-Pong balls used in beer pong games and found they can carry bacteria like salmonella, listeria, E. coli, and staph into the beer.

The protective cups are made so that you can still put your beer in a cup, but are deep enough and have catchers so that the ball doesn’t bounce outside of the cup once it lands. They’re also centered-weighted to prevent the cup from being knocked over, and made with slim rims so as not to interfere with the shot.

The Kickstarter for these cups launched on June 29 and made over $45,000 of its $70,000 goal by the afternoon of July 7.
Treibt is hoping the cups will retail for $3 to $5.
