The celebrated television personality was rushed to the hospital after complications from a throat procedure, from which she could not recover. "My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh," the late Rivers' daughter Melissa said at the time of her death. 2/11 Robin Williams. News of Robin Williams’ apparent suicide at the age of 63 on Aug. 11, shook the world as fans, costars, and collaborators mourned the untimely death of the comedic legend. Williams' wife Susan Schneider also told Us in a statement: "I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. 3/11 Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Oscar winner was found dead in his NYC apartment on Feb. 2 after overdosing on heroin in his bathroom. The father of three with girlfriend Mimi O'Donnell had an on-going struggle with addiction, with his last rehab stint in May 2013. 5/11 Peaches Geldof. The British socialite and fashionista tragically died at the age of 25 at her home in Wrotham, Kent, England on April 7. "We are beyond pain," Peaches' father and world-famous musician Bob Geldof said in a statement. "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us." 6/11 L'Wren Scott. Renowned fashion designer and Mick Jagger's longtime girlfriend was found dead of an apparent suicide at her Manhattan apartment on March 17 at the age of 47. Members of the fashion industry were shocked by the death, and the Rolling Stones rocker admitted he couldn't explain his girlfriend of more than 13 years' decision. 7/11 Richard Attenborough. The Oscar-winning director and actor passed away at age 90 on Aug. 24 after more than 70 years in the film business. He took home the Academy Award for Best Director award for 1982’s Gandhi. As an actor he was best know for his roles in 1993’s Jurassic Park and the 1994 Miracle on 34th Street remake.
