Auckland has been graced by an Angel over the past few weeks, as Victoria’s Secret superstar Georgia Fowler films the first series of Project Runway NZ.
Fowler, New Zealand’s most successful modelling export, takes on the host role made world famous by Heidi Klum. “Though I know the runway like the back of my hand, television is a completely new and exciting experience — and I’m loving every minute of it,” says the 25-year-old.
“To see our designers produce garment after garment and under such tough time constraints has been inspirational for me, to say the least.”
The twice-Victoria’s Secret Angel maintains her peak fitness like a professional athlete, with a strict exercise routine.
Based in Kohimarama, Fowler has been proudly showing off her home turf to her more than 500,000 Instagram followers, during her regular exercise routines around iconic Auckland sites, including the Waitemata Harbour, and western beaches.
And she has a secret weapon in her routine — boxing at Monty Betham’s Boxing Alley in Parnell.
She is sparring with celebrity trainer Dwayne Rowsell — and often turning heads with jog and sprint sessions in nearby streets.
Rowsell, former boyfriend of Jaime Ridge, also keeps an eye on what Fowler is eating. The pair have been spotted at cafes together and on Tuesday night enjoyed some down time at SPQR with friends.
Fowler says the routine is not stopping her enjoying being back among family and friends.
“Being back home in Aotearoa is super special for me. I haven’t been based in one place for this amount of time since I started modelling 10 years ago. So, it’s been good for the soul.”
Production company Warner Brothers is fighting to keep a closed set during filming and say they are some way off announcing the judges and contestants for the TVNZ show, which aims to find our top fashion designer.
