Everyone’s favourite scarfie, Mitch James, is back with his fresh new single ‘21’ today, via Sony Music New Zealand.

Since the release of his hit songs ‘Move On’, ‘Won’t Bother Me’ and ‘All The Ways To Say Goodbye,’ Mitch has been catapulted into the hearts, minds and playlists of Kiwis around the country. To date, Mitch has surpassed a whopping 30 million streams, becoming one of NZ’s largest streaming artists, and has just wrapped up 3 NZ stadium dates, opening for mega-star Ed Sheeran.

Now he’s returned with his brand new single ‘21’, the first track off his debut album.

“I wrote ‘21’ in August 2017, when I was writing in Melbourne. It is basically a nostalgic love letter to not only a girl, but to my friends and also Dunedin. It’s about a time where you have no worries and don’t know how good you have it.”

Recorded and produced at Roundhead Studios with Six60’s Ji Fraser and Eli Paewai, ‘21’ perfectly captures Mitch’s evolution as an artist as he enters this new phase in his career.

“All the lyrics mean a lot to me, and are real stories. The first verse, is about when I had just moved to Dunedin, and I was seeing a girl, who lived next door to my mates, who ended up throwing rocks at their window for a laugh and broke it. It’s all little stories like this that mean so much to me”
