Monday, November 28, 2011

Wellington band the Black Seeds are inviting their fans to sing on their forthcoming new studio album.

The multi platinum-selling band have spent the last 12 months holed up in their studio working on what will be their fifth studio album.

Now they are looking to create a big group vocal sound on of the new tracks, and are inviting their fans to record themselves singing at home, and upload it online. Their voices will then be mixed into the track.

"We're working on Pippy Pip at the moment, which is an unusual song and we're hoping to enlist your help as vocalists," Mike Fabulous tells fans on the band's homepage.

"The song starts out in its rough demo form and throughout the song various types of instrumentation gets added and by the end it's all magical, unicorn sparkles."

It was a bit of an experiment and volunteers wouldn't have to be amazing singers.

"All you need is vocal chords of some sort, a web cam and a set of headphones," he said.

Fans who take part will also be able to purchase a special edition CD with their names in the album credits.

The Black Seeds will embark on a world tour next year to support the release of their first studio album in four years.
